How to Choose a Personal Trainer in Sofia
Published 2026-08-13
Sofia has no shortage of personal trainers. What's harder to find is someone who actually programs your training instead of running you through a generic plan copied from client to client. Here's what I'd look for if I were choosing a coach myself.
Ask what a normal week of coaching actually looks like
A trainer should be able to describe, specifically, how they check in with clients, how often programming changes, and what happens when you miss a session or a lift stalls. If the answer is vague — "we'll figure it out" — that's usually a sign there's no real system behind the coaching.
In-person in Sofia vs. online — the format shouldn't change the standard
I coach both ways: in person at the gym in Sofia, and online with athletes anywhere in the world. The format changes how feedback gets delivered — live cues on the platform versus video review — but not the standard behind it. If a coach treats online clients as an afterthought, that's worth noticing before you sign up.
Track record matters more than a nice Instagram feed
I've spent over 20 years in the sport and 10+ coaching, including competing at IPF European and World level and holding a national record. That's not a requirement for a good coach, but a trainer should be able to point to real results with real clients — not just their own physique.
If you're deciding whether to work with me
I'm Oleksii Titov, and I coach powerlifting, hybrid training, weight loss, rehab, and general fitness — in person in Sofia or online. You can read more about how in-person and online coaching works, or apply directly and we'll talk through your goals on a call.
